Applications are open to serve on the SUMASA Board for the 2021 academic year! Please submit this form NO LATER THAN Tuesday, December 2nd, 2020, at 11:59pm.

SUMASA Board members are elected by the SUMA student body to represent and advocate on behalf of students, foster engagement across the SUMA community, and host meaningful professional development and networking opportunities. Candidates will introduce themselves and read statements at Election Night, which will take place over Zoom on Monday, December 7th at 8:15pm. Online voting will be open from December 7-10th.  For more information, see www.sumasa.org.

To apply/run for a position: For President and Symposium Co-Chair positions, candidates must be planning to enroll at least part-time for both semesters in the upcoming academic year (Fall 2020 and Spring 2021). For all other positions, candidates must be planning to enroll at least part-time for the upcoming Fall 2020 semester. Candidates must submit a headshot and a concise pitch (<250 words) to the SUMA student body explaining why they are qualified for the position. Headshots and pitch paragraphs will be posted on the SUMASA website. Application materials can be submitted through this online application form.

To nominate someone for a position: If you know a fellow SUMA student who you know would be a good fit for a position on the SUMASA board, you can submit your nomination through this online application form.

OPEN BOARD POSITIONS FOR 2021

President: The SUMASA President is the lead for organizing and collaborating with students, faculty, and administration. He/she/they is responsible for creating a productive student organization through effective management. This role is ideal for students with strong leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Vice President of Communications: The VP of Communications facilitates students’ connection to all things SUMA, including managing social media platforms, event promotion, the newsletter, and updating the SUMASA website. This role is ideal for students with strong organizational and writing skills and a love of social media.

Symposium Chair (1 role): The Symposium Co-Chairs are responsible for the design and implementation of the Annual Sustainable Perspective Symposium by coordinating with potential speakers and setting up logistics for SUMASA’s flagship event. This role is ideal for students with strong interpersonal, event planning, and project management skills.
