Continuing the Women & Sustainability speaker series, Defining your Career in Sustainability, inviting successful female leaders in sustainability to share their experiences and foster creative, innovative thinking and conversation about how they came into their careers, Gwen Kilvert, the Associate Director for Academic Sustainability Initiative at the New School will be joining us for an informal discussion.

Gwen is the Associate Director for Academic Sustainability Initiative at The New School. This new position in the Provost Office was preceded by her role as the Assistant Director for Sustainability & Energy Management in Facilities where she managed the university’s environmental impacts, including its carbon inventory. In the nearly three years at the university, Gwen has overseen the university’s STARS Silver rating, issued its first Employee Sustainability Guide, worked to incorporate the under-construction 365,000gsf LEED-Gold University Center into the curriculum, supported the development of Parsons The New School for Design’s undergraduate sustainability requirement, assisted Parsons’ Environmental Studies and Urban Design programs and introduced various student-centered sustainability initiatives. Gwen is an AASHE Advisory Council member and has served on the Urban Green Council’s Programs Committee. Formerly, as an Energy Efficiency Consultant at SAIC, Gwen managed new construction projects for NYSERDA and consulted on LEED projects, including McCarren Pool, a $41MM Parks Department restoration project in Brooklyn.
