Columbia University Earth Summit – Friday, March 29th

Registration is now open for The 2nd Columbia University Earth Summit, which will take place on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Columbia University Faculty House.

In light of the destruction wreaked by Hurricane Sandy, this year’s Earth Summit, Driving Collaborative Solutions, will bring together 300 business and social leaders, academics, and students to foster the new leadership required by today’s complex world. Renowned economist and senior UN advisor Jeffrey Sachs will open the day with an account of the challenges facing society, followed by panel discussions with distinguished guests, such as His Excellency Stuart BeckMichael GerrardPatrick Kinney, and Karl GibersonJeffrey Seabright, Vice President for Environment and Water Resources at The Coca Cola Company, will deliver a closing keynote on the role of the private sector in tackling climate change and other environmental problems.

This year’s Earth Summit also features interactive sessions, such as an Idea Lab (watch world-changing proposals being pitched to investors) and a Social Venture Challenge hosted by The Resolution Project in collaboration with The Earth Institute’s Center on Globalization and Sustainable Development. The day will end with a networking reception.
