SUMASA “On Cities” Screening – Monday, October 22nd

On October 22nd, SUMASA is hosting a screening of “On Cities: A Virtual Gathering”. The event involves a screening of a 3 part non-verbal film about life in cities broadcast simultaneously in 30 global venues. After each part of the film, there will be a discussion about the themes in the film, including "What can urban history teach us?" and "What are the scope of urban challenges?". The Columbia discussion will be led by faculty with specialities in sustainability and urban planning.

Columbia Forum: The Future of Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative – Monday, October 22nd

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) was formed in 2005 by northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states as the nation's first mandatory cap-and-trade program for carbon dioxide. RGGI is now undergoing a comprehensive review. This public meeting will feature speakers with a broad range of perspectives on the future of RGGI. Monday, October 22, 2012, 7 - 9 p.m at Columbia Law School.

MSSM Faculty Profile: Lynette Widder

Master of Science in Sustainability Management (MSSM) professor Lynnette Widder has over fifteen years of experience teaching design, conducting seminars, and organizing architectural excursions for architecture students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is the Principal and Co-founder of aardvarchitecture, a small architectural practice that specializes in residential work with an emphasis on high-quality innovative construction. The practice’s designs have been featured in various publications including the New York Times, Time Out New York, and the HGTV series, Small Space Big Style. Prior to joining the MSSM faculty this semester, Lynnette was the head of the architecture department at the Rhode Island School of Design. This fall, Lynnette is teaching the course, Responsibility and Resilience in the Built Environment.
