A Crude Awakening: Consilience Journal Events November 8th and November 13th

Join Consilience: The Journal of Sustainable Development for a two-part event exploring the class action lawsuit that pitted 30,000 indigenous and colonial rainforest dwellers in Ecuador against the U.S. oil giant Chevron. Part I: Screening the documentary Crude on November 8 at 6pm in the Lerner West Ramp Lounge. Part II: Steven Donziger, the lead attorney representing the Ecuadorian plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit, will discuss his experience on November 13 at 6:30 pm in Lerner 568.

EI Climate Change Adaptation Panel – Monday, October 29th cancelled

Please join the Earth Institute and Columbia University on Monday, October 29th at 6pm for an exciting discussion on how we can better prepare for the impacts of climate change. Our panel of experts will discuss the ability to plan for climate variability and how to integrate climate science into decision-making. **Update: This event is cancelled due Hurricane Sandy.

Jeff Sachs Student Lecture – Tuesday, October 30th cancelled

The Earth Institute Annual Sachs Student Lecture presents "Sustainable Development in the New Administration," with Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director, The Earth Institute; Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development; Professor of Health Policy and Management, Columbia University and Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon on the Millennium Development Goals. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Columbia University’s Morningside Campus in Alfred Lerner Hall, Roone Arledge Auditorium.
