How can a sustainability professional implement her plan and generate buy-in from colleagues? What sustainability challenges exist in the healthcare industry, and what solutions can be found?

Please join Women & Sustainability this Monday evening, where we will discuss these topics and more in an intimate, round-table event with Jessica Prata, Assistant Vice President of Environmental Stewardship at Columbia University.

Speaker Bio:
Jessica Prata is the Assistant Vice President of Environmental Stewardship at Columbia University in New York City. In this role she is responsible for overseeing, launching and monitoring sustainability efforts across the university in collaboration with students, faculty and staff.

Prior to her current role, Prata served as the first named Corporate Sustainability Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), ranked the number seven hospital in the nation by US News & World Report. There, she launched an expansive sustainability program that functions at both the grassroots and executive level. Prata established NYP’s Sustainability Council and mentored a network of ‘green champions’, both of which sparked an organizational shift towards sustainable practices and policy. Under her leadership, NYP received myriad environmental excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth between 2009 and 2013, as well as Energy Star awards from the Environmental Protection Agency starting in 2005. Previously, Prata was a senior fundraiser for Weill Cornell Medical Center and a special projects manager for environment of care regulatory efforts at NYP. Before transitioning to healthcare, she held positions at Medialink Worldwide specializing in corporate broadcast communications.
